August 1, 2007
As far as I'm concerned, August is meant to be endured. Some people say February is the cruelest
month of the year but I'm here to cast my vote for the month tucked between July and September.
Is it any wonder crime rates soar in August? It's hot, sweaty, endless, and unforgiving and I
am clearly not a fan.
Okay so maybe there are one or two things I like about August and most of them can be found at
our local New Jersey farm stands. You haven't lived until you've sampled a farm fresh Jersey
tomato. And our corn isn't half bad. Or our blueberries and strawberries, for that matter.
I'm delighted to report that I'll be a Guest Columnist at Dear Reader while Suzanne Beecher is
on a well-deserved vacation. I had the pleasure of writing a Dear Reader letter during Suzanne's
vacation last year and it was one of my happiest writing experiences. What a great readership
Suzanne has: warm, welcoming, and wonderfully articulate. I hope you'll watch for it.
And there's some good news from Kali, our very own Food Goddess. During a random Google search,
we discovered that Kali's much beloved e-zine was archived at Duke. How cool is that?
I managed to live up to my promise to blog daily at both Romancing The Blog and Barbara Bretton -
Fresh Content Daily . . . maybe and yes, I'm every bit as surprised as you are. I enjoyed both
the discipline and the motivation and maybe, just maybe, I'll see how far I can extend my streak.
Here's what's new and noteworthy this month:
- New contest
- New recipe from Kali our resident Food Goddess
- Lots of blogging at Romancing The Yarn and my
personal blog
- Survival!
What can I say? I meant well.
Have a great July!
Warmly,
