Retail Therapy

I've been under House Arrest for so long I've forgotten what it's like to breathe air fresh from the sky. Unfortunately, I've also forgotten how to behave in polite society. Wow! People actually get out of their jammies and go about their business in broad daylight. Who knew?

In an effort to jumpstart my brain, I decided to jumpstart the car (my wonderful aging please-bury-me-in-it Buick) (you wouldn't believe how old it is if I told you) (I'll have to give it a bath and take a picture) and go out for a little retail therapy.

Now don't go getting all excited. My idea of retail therapy may not be yours. I didn't hie myself off to the mall to wander around Bloomingdale's or Williams-Sonoma or Border's or even go in search of a yarn shop.

I went to the dollar store and bought an Easter Egg coloring kit, four sets of 2-each dish towels for a buck a set, two lighted Owl magnifying glasses that don't work, some stackable Glad storage containers (be still my heart; I love these things), a little book light, some scrunchies, Cheez-Its (hey, why not?), hair glaze in light auburn, four little brown notebooks, a four-pack of highlighters, a pack of index cards, and Dawn Power Resolve better-than-a-dishwasher spray.
You know what? I had a blast. And now it's snowing outside. In April. I mean, it just doesn't get any better than this.
CONTEST NOTE: Scroll down for info on the first blog contest. Check back on Monday for the winners' names and news of a brand new contest. I think I'm going to make that a weekly feature.

Hi Barbara! Stopping in to say "hi", enter the contest and read your posts. I'm new to your blog but not to your books.

Funny about the dollar store. I've spent some time wandering around there, too. Glad you had a good time.

What is it about the dollar stores anyway? They're almost as much fun as secondhand stores. When I was a kid in NYC we had John's Bargain Store and Woolworth's. I miss both of them!

I have a dollar store right around the corner, I love to shop there. I always find things I desperately need, or at least think I do at the time. Who can resist?
