Aunt Rosie's Eggless Cake

A World War II-era offering from my Grandma El's recipe book. (I wish I knew who "Aunt Rosie" was.)

AUNT ROSIE'S EGGLESS CAKE

In large saucepan boil one cup raisins with 2 cups of water for 10 minutes, then add 1/2 cup butter or margarine and let cook. Now, in same saucepan, put

1 3/4 C flour
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 C sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg

Mix it up. You needn't sift things first. Bake in a greased 8 X 10" pan for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Add cup of chopped nuts if desired.
