January 1, 2007

It's 20 minutes after midnight as I write this and I've already broken one of my New Year's resolutions. You know the one: Thou Shalt Not Eat Chocolate Until Thy Hips Go Down A Size.

Fortunately one of my other resolutions has to do with not beating myself up each time I fall off the chocolate wagon. (Notice how I managed to cover all my bases?)

A new year also means new books on the horizon. JUST LIKE HEAVEN will hit the book stores a little after Valentine's Day and I'm beginning to experience the sleepless nights that accompany each new release. JUST LIKE HEAVEN is a love story, plain and simple. (Although I've never known anyone's love story to be either plain or simple, have you? Love is invariably as messy and complicated and inconvenient as it is wonderful.) Sure there's a touch of family conflict here and there, lots of relationships erupting into emotional brushfires along the way, but at its heart JUST LIKE HEAVEN is the first 100% love story I've written in a while. Yes, a happily-ever-after kind of book that's the perfect antidote to the end-of-winter blues. (Or it will be when the end of winter rolls around.)

And then there's my novella WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS which is part of a new Harlequin Anthology called A WEDDING IN PARIS that also features stories by Marie Ferrarella and Cindi Myers. (Did you know that Cindi is a knitter and contributor to our Romancing The Yarn blog?) The collection will debut in June and I'll tell you more as we get closer.

I'm hard at work on my next book, tentatively titled CINDERELLA GOLDSTEIN which is slated for a February 2008 release and occasionally glancing out the window, wondering when winter will finally make its first appearance here in central NJ. Global warming? Maybe. All I know is that shirt sleeves in January isn't normal . . .

Anyway, that's how my year is shaping up so far. I hope yours will be filled with health and happiness because if you have health and happiness, you really do have everything you need.

What's new and notable for January 2007:

  1. A great new recipe from Kali, our resident Food Goddess
  2. A great new contest
  3. Another excerpt from JUST LIKE HEAVEN
