Old Fashioned Pound Cake

Traditionally, the ingredients for a pound cake are weighed, not measured, but these proportions work well for me. (At least up until now!)

Old-Fashioned Pound Cake

Ingredients:

2 1 / 3 C sugar
2 sticks butter
1 T vanilla
5 eggs
2 C flour

Beat sugar and butter until very light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Beat well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Lots of mixer-time is the secret to a delectable pound cake and not one that lands in your stomach like a baked brick. Add flour, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition.

Pour batter into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
