September 1, 2007

September! Is there a more beautiful word in the English language?

September means fresh starts, new beginnings (as opposed to old beginnings?), cool breezes, the promise of chilly nights and harvest moons and that magical moment when the first leaf turns from green to red to orange to yellow.

I love September but I guess you already figured that out.

One of the things I love the most about this time of year is the fact that I can take out the soup pot and start experimenting again. Hearty bowls of soup don't exactly mesh with steamy summer weather but with the first hint of autumn in the air I find my thoughts turning (just like the leaves) toward cream of tomato and Manhattan Clam and spicy Black Bean.

This year my thoughts are also turning toward Suzanne Beecher's wonderful Dear Reader service. I told you last month that I am delighted to once again be a Guest Columnist while Suzanne takes a well-deserved vacation. Watch for it on Thursday September 20th. Check out the Dear Reader site and while you're there treat yourself to a visit to Suzanne's archives. Suzanne's essays will make you laugh, sometimes they'll make you cry, but they'll always leave you looking forward to the next one.

Here's what's new and noteworthy this month:

  1. New contest
  2. New cover
  3. New recipe from Kali our resident Food Goddess
  4. Lots of blogging at Romancing The Yarn and my personal blog (and lots of contest giveaways)
  5. Survival!

Warmly,
